Wilmington Trust Strengthens Captive Services With Hire

Wilmington Trust has hired Kirk Mooneyham as vice president and managing director of its captive management services business.

Mooneyham steps in from Beecher Carlson, where he served as vice president of captive services overseeing a group of 50 captive insurance firms in various US locations. At Wilmington, he will look over a team of captive management professionals in various jurisdictions. He will be based in Colorado and report to Richard Klumpp, president, chief executive, and division manager of Wilmington Trust SP Services. 

Captive insurance firms are owned by the organizations they insure, and according to Business Insurance Magazine, the number of captives worldwide totaled around 5,600 as of March 2011, from 5,525 in 2009.

Wilmington Trust provides these captive management services through offices in Delaware, Nevada, South Carolina, Vermont, and the Cayman Islands.
